1. Product Overview

EPIBOND® 8000 FR A/B is a two-component, extrudable epoxy structural adhesive designed for aerospace applications requiring flame, smoke, and toxicity (FST) compliance according to FAR 25.853. It bonds composites, metals, and other dissimilar substrates without halogenated or antimony-based flame retardants. The adhesive features a convenient mix ratio, moderate work life, thixotropic gap-filling properties, and is easily dispensed from cartridges or metering equipment. Its high peel and shear strength, non-sag behavior, and wide service temperature range make it suitable for vertical and overhead applications, replacing mechanical fasteners to reduce weight and cycle time.


2. Applications

  • Aerospace Interior Applications: Overhead bins, galleys, and honeycomb panels.

  • Compatible Substrates: Composites, metals.

  • Markets: Automotive & Transportation, Aerospace & Aviation.

  • Application Method: Spread mixed adhesive on pretreated dry surfaces; layer thickness 0.004–0.012 in (0.1–0.3 mm) up to 0.12 in (3 mm). Clamp components immediately for even pressure during cure.
