1. Product Overview

ARALDITE® AW 136H / HARDENER HW 5067-1 is a two-component, high-strength epoxy adhesive designed for structural metal bonding under elevated temperatures or chemically aggressive conditions. It offers excellent toughness, environmental resistance, and chemical durability. The adhesive cures at room temperature and achieves significantly improved mechanical and thermal performance after a short post-cure at 50–100°C. Its high viscosity allows precise application, making it suitable for demanding industrial and structural assemblies.

2. Applications

  • Structural bonding of metals

  • Assemblies exposed to high temperatures or aggressive chemicals

  • Thin-bondline joints (0.05–0.10 mm) requiring high lap shear strength

  • Industrial equipment repairs and fabrication

  • Plastic-to-plastic bonding where appropriate pretreatment is used

3. Typical Properties

The system is mixed at 100:29 parts by weight or 100:38 by volume, forming a homogeneous, viscous liquid that spreads easily using a spatula. When applied to properly pretreated surfaces, it produces strong and durable joints, with improved strength after heat cure. Its lap shear performance remains stable across temperature variations, and immersion or ageing tests demonstrate long-term resistance to chemicals, moisture, and thermal cycling. The glass transition temperature increases significantly with higher cure temperatures, confirming enhanced thermal capability. Peel strength values remain robust under different cure schedules, reflecting its toughness. The adhesive is suitable for structural bonding where reliability under demanding service conditions is critical.
