1. Product Overview

ARALDITE® CW 229-3 / ARADUR® HW 229-1 is a brown, liquid, two-component epoxy casting system designed for hot curing. Prefilled with slightly abrasive, mechanically reinforcing wollastonite fillers, it offers excellent crack resistance, high mechanical and electrical performance, low thermal expansion, and strong thermal shock resistance. This system is suitable for encapsulating large metal parts and is recognized under UL 746B for service up to 200°C. The resin exhibits moderate reactivity and long pot-life under controlled conditions.


2. Applications

  • Electrical Insulation Components: Bushings, dry type distribution transformers, instrument transformers, switchgear components, insulators.

  • Industrial & Utilities: Power, water, and utility equipment requiring electrical protection.

  • Automotive & Electronics: Electrical parts, switches, relays, wire jacketing, and insulation.

  • Processing Methods: Automatic Pressure Gelation (APG), vacuum pressure casting.

  • Cure Method: Heat cure, with demoulding times and minimal postcure depending on process and temperature.
