1. Product Overview

ARALDITE® 2053-05 A/B is a two-component toughened methacrylate structural adhesive designed for high-performance bonding in industrial and transportation applications. It features a 5-minute open time, high elongation at break (~50%), and excellent resistance to aging, weathering, and elevated temperatures (up to 100°C, withstanding e-coat post-cure up to 200°C). The adhesive bonds metals, composites, and plastics effectively, with minimal substrate pretreatment required. Available as a paste, it can be applied manually or robotically via cartridges with integrated mixers.

  • Compatible Substrates: Metals, composites, plastics.

  • Markets: Power, water, utilities, renewable energy.

  • Processing: Minimal surface preparation needed; degreasing recommended. Mechanical abrasion or chemical etching improves bond durability.

  • Temperature of Application: 10°C to 40°C; avoid large batch mixing at room temperature due to exothermic reaction.

  • Cure Times (Sandblasted Aluminium, LSS):

    • 1 MPa: 3–40 min (depending on 10–40°C)

    • 10 MPa: 6–60 min (depending on 10–40°C)
