1. Product Overview

Araldite® 2014-2 is a two-component, room temperature curing, thixotropic epoxy paste adhesive. It offers high mechanical strength, excellent resistance to water, chemicals, and elevated temperatures, and is non-sagging with gap-filling capability up to 5 mm. It is widely used in environments where high durability and resistance to harsh conditions are required.


2. Applications

  • Bonding of metals (aluminium, steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, galvanised steel).

  • Bonding of composites such as GRP, CFRP, SMC.

  • Suitable for plastics (ABS, PVC, PMMA, polycarbonate, polyamides).

  • Used in electronics, structural assemblies, and GRP structures exposed to high temperature or aggressive environments.

Typical cured properties

  • Lap shear strength on metals (ISO 4587, 23°C):
    Aluminium, Steel, Stainless steel, Brass, Copper, Galvanised steel = up to ~20–25 MPa depending on substrate and pretreatment.

  • Lap shear on plastics: ABS, PVC, GRP, CFRP, polycarbonate, PMMA – generally substrate failure (very strong bonding).

  • Glass transition temperature (Tg): ~69°C (DMA, 16h at 40°C) → ~85°C (DSC, 24h/23°C + 1h/80°C).

  • Flexural strength: 60 MPa; Flexural modulus: 3500 MPa.

  • Tensile strength: 30 MPa; Tensile modulus: 3100 MPa; Elongation at break: 0.9%.

  • Electrical properties: Dielectric strength 25 kV/mm; Surface resistivity 4.6×10^16 Ω; Volume resistivity 2.7×10^15 Ω·cm; Dielectric constant 4.0; Loss tangent 1.3%.

  • Environmental resistance: Retains lap shear strength after long-term immersion in water, fuels, lubricants, and under tropical weathering/heat ageing.
