1. Product Overview

ARALDITE® AV 4415 / HARDENER HV 4416-1 is a two-component, ambient temperature curing gelling paste epoxy adhesive. It provides strong, durable bonds with temperature resistance up to 180°C after post-curing. The adhesive exhibits excellent chemical resistance, good gap-filling capability, and non-flowing behavior for precise application. It is suitable for bonding metals, aluminum alloys, ferrous metals, and reinforced polymer composites such as GRE, GRP, ABS, and SMC. Optimal performance is achieved through recommended post-curing schedules.

2. Applications

  • Structural bonding of metals and reinforced composites (GRE, GRP, SMC, ABS, aluminum alloys, ferrous metals)

  • Pipe bonding and plumbing applications

  • Joints requiring high temperature and chemical resistance

  • Applications needing non-flowing paste and gap-filling capabilities

  • Ambient curing with post-cure for enhanced mechanical and thermal performance

Surface Pretreatment: Clean surfaces using acetone or proprietary degreasing agents. Avoid low-grade alcohols, gasoline, or paint thinners. Mechanically abrade or chemically etch surfaces for maximum bond strength, followed by a second degreasing.

Application:

  • Mix resin and hardener at 0.5% weight ratio.

  • Apply with spatula to pretreated surfaces, 0.05–0.10 mm thick layer.

  • Clamp immediately for even contact pressure.

  • Minimum shear strength: 1 MPa in 40–80 min (depending on temperature).

  • Post-cure recommended: 8 h at 80°C, 1 h at 130°C, or 30 min at 150°C.
