1. Product Overview

ARALDITE® AW 136H / HARDENER HW 5067 is a high-strength, tough, two-component epoxy adhesive designed for demanding metal bonding applications. It cures at room temperature, offering excellent environmental and chemical resistance, with performance significantly improved by brief post-curing at 50–100°C. The system is easy to apply with a spatula, forms durable structural joints, and maintains strength even at elevated temperatures or in harsh operating environments.

2. Applications

  • Structural metal bonding

  • Assemblies requiring high lap shear strength

  • Joints exposed to chemicals or harsh climates

  • Repairs in industrial and mechanical environments

  • Bonding where room-temperature cure is required but post-cure enhancement is possible

3. Typical Properties

The adhesive is supplied as a viscous liquid system mixed at 100:29 parts by weight (resin:hardener) or 100:38 by volume. Once blended to a homogeneous mixture, it spreads easily and forms thin, high-strength adhesive lines between 0.05–0.10 mm. The cured system demonstrates strong adhesion to properly pretreated metals, especially when sandblasted, and maintains shear strength across a wide temperature range. Post-curing at elevated temperatures increases thermal resistance and significantly raises glass transition temperature. Environmental durability is excellent, with good retention of lap shear strength after immersion, thermal ageing, and tropical weathering. Peel resistance remains consistent under different curing schedules, confirming its toughness for structural use.
