1. Product Overview

Araldite® CY 220-1 / CY 221 with Hardener HY 956 EN is a casting resin system designed for room temperature or slightly elevated temperature curing. The system offers excellent electrical insulation, high filler addition capability, and low shrinkage, with flexibility and rigidity tailored by adjusting the ratio between CY 220-1 (medium viscosity, more rigid) and CY 221 (low viscosity, more flexible). It demonstrates low cracking tendency, high dielectric strength, and suitability for encapsulating electronic components.

2. Applications

  • Encapsulation and potting of low-voltage and electronic components.

  • Electrical insulation for light electrical applications.

  • Casting and processing with high filler loadings to improve thermal and mechanical properties.

  • Adaptable to requirements:

    • CY 221 → flexible castings.

    • CY 220-1 → rigid castings.

  • Compatible with fillers (silica, alumina, aluminium hydroxide, etc.) for enhanced strength, reduced shrinkage, and improved thermal conductivity.
