1. Product Overview

Elan-tron® MC 4260/W 4260 is a two-component, filled epoxy potting compound comprising Epoxylite® EIP 4260 resin and hardener. It is self-extinguishing, offers excellent thermal cycling performance, and belongs to thermal class H (180 °C). The system has low viscosity, high impregnation capability, low exothermic peak, and good electrical and mechanical properties. It is UL 94 HB listed (File E116643) and RoHS/RoHS 2 compliant. It cures at room or moderate temperatures and can be applied manually, automatically, or under vacuum, with pre-heating recommended for complex components.

2. Applications

  • Encapsulation of conventional electrical motors and linear motors.

  • Impregnation and potting of transformers.

  • Applications requiring large bulk castings and reliable thermal cycling performance.

3. Typical Properties

The system provides a long pot life and stable processing with predictable gelation times. Mixed epoxy exhibits low to moderate initial viscosity, facilitating high impregnation of complex parts. After curing, the material demonstrates high hardness, moderate glass transition temperature, good thermal conductivity, and low dielectric loss. Electrical insulation, mechanical strength, and dimensional stability are strong, making it suitable for high-temperature electrical and electromechanical applications. Thermal shock resistance and UL-rated flammability ensure safe performance in demanding operating conditions.
