1. Product Overview

Elan-tron® MC 5470 FR/W 5710 is a self-extinguishing, two-component epoxy casting resin system consisting of Rhenatech® EP 5470 FR resin and W 5710 hardener. It is solvent-free, exhibits high thermal conductivity, and adheres well to various substrates. Optimal performance is achieved after post-curing. The system is UL 94 V-0 certified (file E116643) and RoHS compliant. It cures at room or moderate temperatures and is suitable for manual or automated casting.


2. Applications

  • Encapsulation of electrical components operating under critical conditions.

  • Casting of industrial magnets.

  • Use in electromagnetic brakes.

3. Typical Properties

The system demonstrates reliable processing behavior with stable viscosity, balanced pot life, and excellent curing characteristics. When cured, it exhibits high hardness, strong mechanical strength, low dielectric loss, and notable thermal conductivity. It offers a glass transition temperature up to 100 °C, high electrical insulation resistance, and outstanding flame retardancy. Its post-cured state ensures dimensional stability, minimal thermal expansion, and high resistance to tracking and surface breakdown, making it suitable for demanding electrical and mechanical applications.
