1. Product Overview

Elan-tron® MC 62/W 363 is a two-component, flame-retardant, room-temperature curing epoxy system. It is a filled, fluid epoxy resin system that is self-extinguishing, halogen- and solvent-free, with low shrinkage and low exothermic peak. It exhibits good electrical and mechanical properties, efficient heat dissipation, and is suitable for immersion in seawater. The system is UL 94 V-0 listed (File E116643) and RoHS compliant. It can be manually or vacuum cast and benefits from careful pre-heating or de-aeration to enhance application. Post-curing stabilizes the material and optimizes its electrical and mechanical performance.

2. Applications

  • Encapsulation of transformers, igniters, and submersible pumps.

  • Potting of electronic noise filters and electrical components.

  • Applications requiring flame retardancy, low shrinkage, and seawater resistance.

3. Typical Properties

MC 62/W 363 offers moderate initial viscosity, long pot life, and predictable gelation times. Once cured, the system achieves high hardness, glass transition temperature suitable for moderate thermal loads, strong electrical insulation, and good mechanical strength. Thermal shock resistance, low water absorption, and UL-rated flammability ensure safe and reliable performance. It also demonstrates stable dielectric properties, flexural and tensile strength, and dimensional stability, making it suitable for electrical and electromechanical devices operating in demanding conditions.
