1. Product Overview

LOCTITE® 460™ is a low-odor, low-bloom cyanoacrylate adhesive designed for fast bonding of various materials, including metals, plastics, and elastomers. It is particularly effective on porous or absorbent materials such as wood, paper, leather, and fabric. This one-component adhesive requires no mixing and cures upon exposure to humidity.

2. Applications

  • Bonding of metals, plastics, and elastomers
  • Suitable for porous and absorbent materials
  • Used where vapor control is difficult due to low odor
  • Applicable in environments requiring rapid fixture time

Curing Performance

Cure is initiated by atmospheric moisture. Full chemical resistance develops after 24 hours.

Fixture Time by Substrate (@22°C, 50% RH):

Substrate Fixture Time (seconds)
Steel 10-30
Aluminum 5-10
Zinc Dichromate 20-45
Rubber (Neoprene, Nitrile) <5
ABS, Phenolic, Paper <5
Polycarbonate 10-20
PVC 5-30
Wood (Pine) 20-30
Leather 1-10

Cure Speed Influencers:

  • Bond Gap: Thinner bond lines cure faster.
  • Humidity: Ideal range is 40-60% RH at 22°C.
  • Activator Use: Speeds up cure but may reduce strength.
