1. Product Overview

ARALDITE® AV 1580 / HARDENER HV 1580 is a two-component epoxy putty that functions as a structural adhesive and gap filler. It is designed for general-purpose use across a wide range of substrates including metals, glass, plastics, rubbers, wood, and concrete. The cured putty is chemically resistant, tough, high-strength, dimensionally stable, and suitable for applications involving vibration, thermal cycling, or chemical exposure. Its low coefficient of expansion makes it compatible with metals like copper and steel, allowing use in cryogenic conditions. Color-coded for easy mixing, it can be applied manually or with a roller and finished smoothly for durable bonding or modeling.

2. Applications

  • Application Areas: Cable joints, pipes, tanks.

  • Compatible Substrates: Concrete, elastomers & rubbers, glass, metal, plastics, wood.

  • Markets: Building & Construction, Industrial Manufacturing.

  • Application Method: Apply putty manually, with a roller, or a stiff knife; smooth while tacky. Cure at 25°C (2 h), 60°C (20 min), or 100°C (5 min). Full cure in 7 days at 25°C. Surfaces should be degreased and pretreated for optimal adhesion.
